I sit here, trying to think of something to type about, and nothing is coming. Nothing witty, nothing insightful or meaningful, or interesting.
If I actually had a following of readers, I would be in deep mud. But since I know I don't because everyone and their dog has a blog so my dinky worthless blog is lost in the mess. I always seem to get on the bandwagon instead of being a leader.
I think I stated it pretty well in one of my - what else - unfinished, unpublished fanfiction stories. "I have never met anyone who, after being told to start from the beginning, suddenly turns from stymied silence to enthusiastic but comprehensible loquaciousness."
So true. And if you don't know the meaning of stymied or loquaciousness, take this as an opportunity to expand your knowledge - in other words, go look it up.
So, is this a non-post post?
*lightbulb* You know how Katie Couric asked viewers to send in suggestions for a "sign-off"? If only she knew how silly she sounded asking it. To be fair, I believe she earnestly wants to know what her viewers want. It's just that it came across as... lame.
Here is my suggestion, Mrs. Couric: "Act with honor." Honor is something which this contemporary world lacks. It is all cynicism and backstabbing and lies. Honor forces you to hold yourself to a higher standard. Honor forces you to look in a mirror every time you do something.
People may mock honor as an anachronism from the Old World. They may mock it as naïve and foolish. But it is those people who will in the end rely on those who cherish the values which were mocked.
Stand tall and dare others to not measure up to your standards. Be an example of what a truly good person is. Exemplify love, forgiveness, friendship, empathy, kindness. Live life doing your best to do good.
That is what Honor is to me. It is being the best that you can be, not by competing with others but by competing with yourself, always striving to do better.
Act with Honor.
